Wi-Fi
The router is in the living room. If the internet stops, switch it off at the wall, wait 30 seconds and switch it back on.

If there's a fire
- Get out. Shout to warn everyone and leave straight away. Don't stop for belongings.
- Stay out. Never go back inside.
- Call 999 and ask for the fire service. Give this address: 3 Quay Street, Seaton, EX12 0AA.
How to get out
Downstairs: the front door onto Quay Street, or the back door from the kitchen. Upstairs: down the main stairs. The key for the back door hangs beside it.
Where to gather
On the pavement opposite the front door, away from the building.
Gas, alarms and safety equipment
If you smell gas, don't use switches or naked flames, open the doors and windows, turn off the gas if you can, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
If the carbon monoxide alarm sounds, or anyone has a headache, dizziness or nausea that gets better outside, open windows, turn off appliances, get everyone outside and call 0800 111 999. Call 999 if anyone feels unwell.
Gas emergency shut-off
The gas meter is in the cupboard under the stairs. The lever is off when it is across the pipe.
- Smoke, heat and CO alarms
- Smoke alarms on each landing and in the lounge, a heat alarm in the kitchen, and carbon monoxide alarms by the boiler and the wood burner. If one beeps every minute, the battery is low: please call us.
- Fire blanket and extinguishers
- Fire blanket on the wall beside the cooker.
- Wood burner or open fire
- Only burn the logs provided. Keep the door closed while it is lit, and never leave it burning when you go out.
- Hot tub
- No glass in or around the hot tub, children must be supervised, and please put the cover back on after use.
- Fuse box
- Fuse box in the hall cupboard.
- Water stopcock
- Under the kitchen sink.
Arriving
Check-in from 4pm
Park in the space marked 3, directly outside. We’ll send your key safe code by message on the morning you arrive.
Checking out
Check-out by 10am
Before you leave:
- Load and start the dishwasher
- Take rubbish and recycling to the bins by the gate
- Close and lock all windows and doors
- Put the keys back in the key safe
Heating and hot water
The thermostat is in the hallway. Turn the dial up to make it warmer. Hot water is on a timer and comes on automatically.
Oven and hob
Turn the left dial to choose the oven setting, then the right dial for the temperature. The induction hob needs flat-bottomed pans, which are in the drawer below.
Using the wood burner
- Open the air vent fully
- Light the firelighter under a few small pieces of kindling
- Add logs once it is burning well
- Ash goes in the metal bucket outside, once cold
Using the hot tub
Please shower first. The cover lifts from the side nearest the house. The water is tested and treated between every stay.
Bins and recycling
- Black bin: general rubbish
- Green box: glass, tins and plastic
- Blue bag: paper and card

- No parties or events
- Please keep noise down after 10pm
- Dogs welcome downstairs only
